At the end of 2025, the previous German eea programme, which also ran at national level under the name 'European Energy Award', has expired. 
A new Germany-wide climate protection management programme is currently being set up under the name “Klimakommune (Climate City, Climate Municipality, Climate District)” and under a new organization.
