The organisation of the European Energy Award®

The Forum European Energy Award e. V.

The European Energy Award® is based on the experience of Switzerland, Vorarlberg (AUT) and Nordrhein-Westfalia (GER) with three successful programmes Energiestadt (CH), energieeffiziente Gemeinden e5 in Vorarlberg (AUT) and Aktionsprogramm 2000 plus (GER). In 2003 the long-lasting informal co-operation of these three countries was institutionalised with the founding of the association Forum European Energy Award®.

The remit of the Forum European Energy Award e.V. is

  • to coordinate the activities of all regional and national organisations;
  • to guarantee the quality of the eea® instrument and of jointly agreed standards;
  • to evaluate applications and bestow the European Energy Award®Gold;
  • to provide information both internally and externally;
  • to select suitable implementing organisations/institutions in other countries;
  • to cultivate contacts with municipal networks in Europe and with the relevant EU committees.

For the eea® communities and their concerns the national and regional organisations are responsible.
